About 

Alex Lew is a guitarist and teacher that specializes in classical music. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 2020 from the University of Texas at Austin, studying under Adam Holzman. He continued his higher education at the Yal School of Music, where he earned a Master of Music degree in 2022 and a Master of Musical Arts degree in 2023. During his years studying under the tutelage of Benjamin Verdery at Yale, Alex discovered his passion for teaching. He decided to head back to Austin to engage in the community that he grew up with and completed his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree back at UT Austin. Alex currently works with Austin Classical Guitar as a teaching artist and assistant director for the Austin Classical Guitar Youth Orchestra.

​Alex has experience teaching music to all ages and skill levels from beginners to advanced players who seek to enrich their musical endeavors. Although he has a strong passion for classical music, Alex grew up with a love for rock and roll and blues and plays electric guitar.

In addition to teaching, Alex actively performs in the Austin area promoting new works as well as a gigging artist. He has extensive experience performing in a variety of settings and events such as weddings, corporate events, cocktail hours, religious services, and private parties.
